All recent research shows that the safest way for children to travel is rear-facing for as long as possible. The Axkid Minikid 2.0 allows this right up to around 6 years old, so is currently one of the longest extended rear-facing seats out there.
The installation of the seat really offers a solid fit, with the self-tensioning tethers on the seat helping to make sure that you have it as tight as possible.
We loved the automatically adjusting harness and headrest! We have seen so many parents travelling with their child in a car seat where the harness is at completely the wrong height level! Either too low or too high. This removes any worry about this and ensures that the fit is always perfect.
Launched in 2018, the Axkid Minikid 2.0 car seat comes with the innovative side impact protection – ASIP (Axkid Side Impact Protection), developed together with a recognized crash institute in Germany, providing the best possible protection for the child in the event of a side impact collision. ASIP should be used on the side of the car seat that is facing the car’s door. When using the car seat in the middle, ASIP is not required.
The support leg has been developed and improved, and can now be extended with just one button, which is easier to access from the side.
The cover has been improved, and taking it on and off simplified to make washing it easier.
The headrest is thicker and cosier for optimal comfort for the child when asleep. The unique feature of the headrest and internal harness, which automatically adjusts according to the child’s length and size when you pull the belt, remains but with a more visible brake lever.
The self-tightening tether straps make the installation smooth when the car seat is 'wiggled' in place. The reclining leg in the front allows you to use five different positions for optimal slope for your child, depending on age and length. If more slope is needed, an angle-adjusting wedge is available.
Axkid Minikid 2.0 is approved from birth to 25kg (approximately 125cm or 6 years) and has received excellent reviews from several independent test institutes. It is Plus approved up to 25kg, received the Good Choice 2019 award by Folksam, Best Cost Value by Best-in-Test.se and is Rollover approved by VCA.
Axkid Minikid 2.0 is always delivered with a black baby cushion, to provide better support for the youngest children. Axkid Minikid 2.0 does not replace an infant carrier and Axkid always recommends starting off with an infant carrier because it is best suited to the smallest children.
The current safety guidelines advise that newborn babies are not left in their car seat for longer than 30 minutes. For babies 2-6 months, no longer than 2 hours. It is also safer to keep your child rear-facing for as long as possible - a minimum of 15 months but ideally 4 years. A child should never be in their harnessed car seat with a thick winter coat or snowsuit on.
If you are after a car seat that can carry your child in the safest of positions, right up to around 6 years old, then the Axkid brand is a great place to start. The Axkid Minikid has bags of safety features, is Plus Test approved and can fit in most cars.
